Summer is coming, a period of relaxation and rest during warm sunny days. It is the time when employees take the most vacation and thus realise the right to a longer rest during the year, and simultaneously the time when the work of young people is most used for summer jobs.
We already informed you about the Amendment to the Labour Code No. 262/2006 Coll. (hereinafter referred to as the Labour Code), submitted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, in our 11/2022 issue of the Payroll Newsletter. In April this year, the Government approved the amendment, which was modified in the comment procedure, and it is now being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies.
On 22.5.2023, the Ministry of Finance submitted a draft law on the consolidation of public budgets for comment proceedings, the collection of comments was completed on 29.5.2023. The objective of the package is to reduce the public finance deficit from 3.5% of the GDP this year to an estimated 1.8% of the GDP in 2024 and 1.2% of the GDP in 2025.
Pension reform was introduced by the government along with the consolidation package. The aim of the pension reform is to maintain decent state pensions for future generations.
The new whistleblower protection law introduces an obligation to gradually establish an internal reporting system for all employers with more than 50 employees.
